The “Seafood from Norway”-trademark is used to add value to Norwegian seafood products. The Norwegian Seafood Council utilizes the trademark in its own marketing and on promotional materials outside of Norway. The trademark can also be used outside of Norway by parties in the Norwegian seafood industry, and foreign producers who sign a license agreement under which the NSC grants the licensee the right to use the trademark.

Every day several million Norwegian seafood meals are served all over the world. Norwegian seafood is unique because it not only originates from cold, clear waters, but also utilizes several generations of experience and modern knowledge and technology, and is harvested and farmed in a sustainable manner.

The “Seafood from Norway”-trademark conveys to consumers all over the world that the seafood bearing the trademark embodies all these important qualities. That is the benefit which the trademark offers across the board, to the entire Norwegian seafood industry. The Norwegian Seafood Council wants to ensure that all vested partners accrue the same benefits from the trademark, by building and maintaining a global brand. Accordingly, we have developed strict guidelines for the use of the trademark, which for instance prohibitits any use of the trademark in Norway.
