Are you a Norwegian exporter or producer planning to conduct marketing activities abroad? Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) can co-finance up to 50% of the activity costs, if the Norwegian origin and the industry’s label, Seafood from Norway, is an important part of the communication.

Do you want to strengthen the market position of your company and product? Company Initiative is the NSC´s co-financing program for marketing activities which emphasise the Norwegian origin.

Norwegian seafood has a good position in the important seafood markets overseas. On behalf of the industry, the NSC invests in many of these markets in order to strengthen the position of Norwegian seafood even further. If your company, as a producer or exporter, is planning to conduct marketing activities, either independently or in cooperation with your customers, the part of the activity which is related to the Norwegian origin of the products can be co-financed by the NSC through Company Initiative.

Through Company Initiative, the NSC can as well provide advice and market insight when it is desired.

The main principle behind the Company Initiative is that the NSC can co-finance the part of the activity which is devoted to the Norwegian origin, with a upper limit of 50%.

How to proceed? - 6 simple steps

1) Prepare and contact the NSCcaret

Read through the Company Initiative guidelines. It will save a lot of time later in the process. The guidelines can be found and downloaded on the right side of this page.

The procedure is simple and involves a minimum of bureaucracy, but it is important to understand which costs can and cannot be covered by the NSC. Speak with the NSC´s Country Directors or contact the head office in Tromsø if there are any questions. Please be aware that the application has to be sent to the NSC at least one month before the activity is to take place.

2) Plancaret

Create a plan describing the activity, objective, budget and timeline. Use the NSC application template (link on the right side of this page) so that all the necessary information is filled in the application. The application should be sent to Use of the application template is obligatory but additional attachments can be included as well.

3) Developcaret

NSC has developed templates for various marketing materials, i.e. advertisements, roll-ups, brochures etc. for different co-financing levels. Have a look at the document “Templates Company Initiativ” which can be found on this side. Please contact Jan Eirik Johnsen at or +47 97511384 for more information about the templates.

4) Agreecaret

NSC handles the application and if the application complies with the rules and regulations and there are budgets available an agreement will be set up and sent to the applicant. The agreement will specify share of co-financing.

5) Executecaret

The activity must be conducted in accordance with the agreed plan. NSC must be informed as soon as possible if any changes are made to the agreed plan.

6) Reportcaret

When the activity is completed, a report must be submitted  in accordance with the “documentation and evaluation requirements” - see the document General Information and Guidelines for Company Initiative.
