The Seafood Council has been informed that, as of October 18, Russia has imposed a ban on the transit of all fish products from Norway through Russian territory.
The Russian veterinary and food safety authority, Rosselkhoznadzor, states that the ban aims to reduce the risk of potentially harmful fish products entering Russia. No further explanation has been provided for the measure.
Feedback from Norwegian exporters, as well as importers, especially in Kazakhstan, indicates that the measure has been implemented and that Norwegian fish products with export certificates issued after October 18 are being or risk being stopped and denied entry into Russian territory.
