Focus on seafood for Norwegian PM on visit to Japan
This week, the Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, to honor the unique relationship between Japan and Norway. High on the agenda was how these two ocean nations can work even closer together in the future, and further strengthen mutually beneficial trade relations, also within the seafood category.

Bumper start to Norwegian seafood exports for 2018
Norway exported 198,000 tonnes of seafood worth NOK 7.7 billion in January. An increase in volume of 23,000 tonnes or 13 per cent and a NOK 143 million or 2 per cent rise in value compared with January last year.

Seafood exports worth record-high NOK 94.5 billion in 2017
Norway exported 2.6 million tonnes of seafood worth NOK 94.5 billion in 2017. This is an increase in value of 3 per cent, or NOK 3 billion, and an increase in volume of 7 per cent from the record year of 2016. This is the equivalent of 36 million meals every day, year round.

Yet another record year for whitefish exports
Norway exported cod, saithe, haddock and other whitefish worth NOK 15 billion in 2017. This is an increase of 8 per cent, or NOK 1.1 billion, from 2016.

Reduced exports of shellfish in 2017
Norway exported 40,000 tonnes of shellfish valued at NOK 1.7 billion in 2017. This is a decrease in volume of 2 per cent and a reduction in value of 7 per cent from 2016.

Increased volume and reduced value for exports of pelagic fish in 2017
Norway exported 838,000 tonnes of pelagic fish worth NOK 7.7 billion in 2017. This is an increase in volume of 24 per cent and a decrease in value of 1 per cent from 2016.

Salmon exports valued at NOK 64.7 billion in 2017
Norway exported salmon worth NOK 64.7 billion in 2017. This is an increase of 5 per cent or NOK 3.4 billion compared with 2016, and it is the highest export value ever for salmon. Measured in product weight, Norway exported 1 million tonnes of salmon in 2017, which is 2.8 per cent or 27,000 tonnes more than in 2016.

Norwegian Seafood Council Restructures Its Marketing Operations in India
Due to a significant reduction in funds, The Norwegian Seafood Council has to reduce its global market investments in 2018. As a consequence, the NSCs operations in the Indian market will be restructured, and delivered directly from the headquarters of the Norwegian Seafood Council from spring 2018.

Norwegian seafood exports total NOK 9.1 billion in October
Norway exported 275,000 tonnes of seafood worth NOK 9.1 billion in October. Volumes were down by 5 per cent, while the total value of exports fell by 3 per cent or NOK 281 million compared with October last year. Year to date, Norway has exported 2.1 million tonnes of seafood with a value of NOK 77.6 billion.

Norwegian Seafood Council appoints new director in the UK
Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr (47) has been appointed the new country representative for the Norwegian Seafood Council(NSC) in the UK. He will take up his role from 1 September.

Norwegian whitefish exports hit record-high of NOK 8.1 billion in H1 2017
Exports of whitefish have never before had a greater value in the first six months of the year. The growth is due primarily to conventional products, as well as fresh and frozen whole whitefish.

Norwegian seafood exports break new records in first half of 2017
Never before has Norway exported a greater value of seafood than in the first six months of 2017. The increase is due primarily to record-high salmon prices but also to strong growth in export volumes to the U.S. and Asian markets.

Norwegian shellfish exports lower in first half of 2017
Norway exported 23 000 tonnes of shellfish worth NOK 766 million in the first six months of 2017. This is a decrease in volume of 22 per cent and a decline in value of 17 per cent versus the same period last year.

Norwegian salmon exports worth NOK 31.5 billion in first six months of 2017
The value of Norwegian salmon exports is steadily reaching new heights. In the first six months, the export value for salmon has never been higher than this year. Record-high salmon prices and growth in the U.S. and Asia are the main reasons.
