In October, the 60th edition of Sial Paris took place right outside the French capital. This is the largest food innovation exhibition in the world, and 7500 exhibitors from 130 countries participated, bringing over 400 000 products to showcase to the 400 000 visitors.

Collaboration with Innovation Norway & the NSC

During this exhibition, Innovation Norway in France organized a Norwegian stand, with participation from the Norwegian Seafood Council. The Norwegian stand included eight Norwegian companies, of which four of them where from the seafood industry.

Norwegian Seafood Product Wins Award

To promote innovation and new products in the food sector, Sial rewards companies that are developing innovative, healthier products with new ingredients and packaging. There are a total of nineteen themed awards, one of them being seafood.

– This year, a Norwegian seafood product won this award, namely Vaag Seafood with their new king crab product. This is a great way to show how the Norwegian seafood industry keeps innovating and developing new products, Country Director in France Sigrid Louise Philippart says.

With more and more consumers and buyers looking for good, alternative protein sources, it is even more important to show off Norwegian seafood as the perfect solution.

    Displays Innovation and Coming Trends

Sial Paris displays innovation in the food sector and coming trends. The most noticeable trend this year was the vegan and alternative protein trend, with “foie gras” made of pistachios and plant-based “salmon”.

    – With more and more consumers and buyers looking for good, alternative protein sources, it is even more important to show off Norwegian seafood as the perfect solution, Philippart concludes.

The Norwegian Seafood Council visited the exhibition to meet with the Norwegian exhibiters and learn about new food trends.
