After six years as CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council, Renate Larsen (46) has made the decision to resign. The decision was hers alone, and she will remain in position throughout her notice period.
“There´s no drama behind my decision. I have had six fantastic and exciting years with the Norwegian Seafood Council. I have had the privilege to work with a competent and adaptable organization that I will miss. There is a time for everything, and it feels that the time is right for me to do something else”, says Renate Larsen, CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council.
Support and understanding from the Chairperson
Renate Larsen has communicated her decision to the boards Chairperson, Marianne E. Johnsen, and at a general meeting on Friday afternoon, all employees were informed.
“I had hoped to keep Renate Larsen for a while longer, but at the same time understand that there is a time for everything and that she now wants to explore other possibilities. I have greatly appreciated Renate as a person, her professionalism, security and leadership skills”, says Marianne E. Johnsen, Chairperson of the Norwegian Seafood Council.
No new role confirmed
Renate Larsen has a six-month notice period and will remain in position if the board requires it.
“I will not be going from the Norwegian Seafood Council straight into a new job. Now I want to spend some time thinking about the next steps in my career”, Renate Larsen emphasizes.
Proud of her contribution to Norwegian Seafood Council
Renate Larsen has a master's degree in economics from the Norwegian School of Management, specializing in strategy, organization and management. She took over as CEO of the Seafood Council in 2016 and then came from a similar position in Lerøy Aurora.
“I am proud of what we have achieved in these years both in ensuring and documenting the value we create for the Norwegian seafood industry and the nation of Norway as well as the strategic and organizational measures we have taken”, says Renate Larsen.
Marianne E. Johnsen is full of praise for the CEO she recruited in 2016.
Renate Larsen leaves a legacy
“In the six years Renate Larsen and I have worked together, a lot has changed. Among other things, we have put in place a new strategy and implemented a major reorganization and streamlining of the organisation. The Norwegian Seafood Council has been professionalised as an organization, which we not least see in the way we work now with the seafood industry and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Renate Larsen for her efforts. She leaves a legacy and will be missed”, says Marianne E. Johnsen.
The board will now begin the process of finding a new CEO for Norwegian Seafood Council.
The position will be advertised.
